If you’re looking to feel calmer, get better sleep, improve your physical health and your mental health – qigong could be a really simple and easy fix for you.
Qigong is an easy mindful / meditative movement practise that’s accessible to almost everyone. And, what’s more, most people find qigong exercises uplifting and energy boosting.
Over the last decade I’ve:
- Spent 3+ years as meditation and qigong coach at the UK’s number 1 school of the decade
- Worked for the NHS social prescribing programme running multiple qigong programmes for elderly people
- Provided qigong exercise learning programmes for hundreds of care home activity leaders across the UK
- Run numerous years of qigong minfulness sessions at mental health and addiction recovery centres, for refugee and other community groups
- Led qigong (and tea meditation) sessions at a wide variety of retreats and events, including Flow Fest, Raw Fest, Calm Down on the Downs Retreats and Pride in Wellness LGBTQIA+ wellness festival at Canary Wharf
- Run multiple staff wellbeing sessions using qigong and mindful movement for clients such as Kew Gardens, Crunch Accountancy, Survivors’ Network, Pathways to Health and more.
- Led weekly online and in-person qigong classes for groups and 1-2-1 clients
These qigong classes are for beginners and intermediates. They help with stress-relief and anxiety, which in turn leads to more wellbeing, better metal health and improved physical health. Think of qigong as a mindfulness gym.
You will also feel the benefit of qigong through better posture, improved balance, strength and much more. Classes are relaxed and participants report feeling uplifted.

What is qigong?
Each class is different and involves simple movements designed to calm the mind and help the client enter a more meditative zone, as well as relax and refresh the body. Qigong (sometimes known as Tai Chi Qigong, chi kung or Chinese yoga) works the smaller muscles of the body and so is an excellent complement to more demanding sports and fitness activities.
This type of exercise is suitable for people of all levels of health and fitness, it can even be done in a chair with very limited movement.
Classes are based around the ancient Eastern practise of Qigong which is done daily, en masse in China and is becoming more popular in the Western world. In China, the exercise is traditionally used as a way to prevent illness and increase longevity and mindfulness. See one of my sample qigong classes here.

Pathways to Health client, Sarah: “Over the years I’ve tried many things to help with my stress and anxiety, I can truly say that Qigong is the one thing that has helped me.”
“When I first started Qigong, I was made to feel very welcome and Claudia the coach gave very clear instructions how to do the movements and breathing. Her visualisation was superb. Over the years I have tried many things to help with my stress and anxiety, I can truly say that Qigong is the one thing that has helped me. At the end of the class I feel extremely relaxed and well, my mind and body just feel lighter, it has made me definitely realise how much stress and tension my body carriers around.
The exercises relieve this and it certainly a very welcome feeling to get rid of this. I highly recommend Qiqong to anybody of any age. At the classes, I have learnt different techniques to deal with stress that I can use on a day to day basis. I look forward to my classes very much, the only regret I have that I did not discover Qigong years ago, I believe my life would of been made a lot easier.” – Sarah was a regular at Pathways to Health classes at Pavilions/ CGL, Brighton.

Tea meditation circles (ceremonies):
Alongside qigong, I am delighted to now offer a group tea ceremony meditation experience for small groups of meditators, or those who enjoy silent reflective time. Tea meditation offers a deeply meditative ancient tradition which can feel primal and often ‘cosmic’, connecting us to the sublime wonders of life.
Immerse yourself in the ritual of steam, stillness and the sensory pleasure of absorbing the aroma and notes of extra high quality puerh, white, oolong and other superior teas, in a reflective space – for one to two hours.
My love of tea meditation comes from a life long love of teas, and that universal feeling of ‘time out’ that can come from a cup of tea, and well as the simple comfort tea has offered me in difficult times.
From 2019 – 2020, I spent 8 months living in a Buddhist-style tea community where we practised tea mediation daily, often for several hours. In these meditations, my mind would feel so connected to the aliveness and magic of live, that I wanted to carry this through for myself and others as part of my regular meditation practise. For me, tea mediation circles offer a sense of comfort, peace and safety. Ask for more information on how you can bring a tea meditation experience to your group.
